Geophysicist (Project Supervisor, York)

Salary range £18,800 to £22,000 (depending on experience)

AOC Archaeology Group is one of the leading commercial archaeology companies in the UK, comprising a highly skilled and dynamic team and offering a full range of archaeological fieldwork, consultancy, survey, post-excavation and public archaeology services.

We are looking to expand our successful York office, situated in the heart of the historic city, with the addition of an experienced geophysicist who wishes to further develop their career in commercial archaeology. The successful applicant will have experience at commercial level of undertaking both gradiometer and resistance surveys, and a good background knowledge of British archaeology. A good level of competency in the use of associated survey software is desirable, although training will be provided if necessary.

It is vital that you are a good team member with a positive and enthusiastic approach to archaeology. You will also need to be self motivating and able to work independently and under your own initiative, and it may often be necessary to travel around the UK with overnight stays.

A relevant degree is essential and CIfA membership desirable, but this and a CSCS card can be organised once in post - and would be paid for by AOC Archaeology. A clean driving licence is preferable and computer literacy is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career with a forward-looking archaeological company, with an expanding range of clients and projects, while working for an organisation that believes in investing in and developing its staff in order to achieve the highest professional standards.

AOC Archaeology is a CIfA Registered Organisation and has ISO 9001:2008 certification.

The closing date for applications is 30th September 2016, and it is expected that interviews will be held in October at our York office.

If you would like any further information on this post, please contact Graeme Cavers on or call 0131 440 3593 for an informal discussion. Your enquiry will be treated in confidence.
