Sam worked with AOC as temporary fieldwork staff from November 2017, continuing into a full-time position in April 2018 with the consultancy team. This has seen Sam undertake the production of prehistoric archaeological and geoarchaeological impact assessments, heritage desk-based assessments and post-excavation lithic reports for sites throughout the UK. Additionally, as an experienced geoarchaeologist Sam has undertaken a series of borehole surveys and deposit modelling projects using RockWorks software.
Sam specialises in prehistoric archaeology of Britain and North Europe and has completed a PhD entitled Neanderthal Occupation of the Channel Plain Region: Lithic and Landscape behaviour in the Early Middle Palaeolithic. Since 2011 Sam has taught at various institutions, lecturing in prehistoric archaeology, geoarchaeology and archaeological fieldwork method and skills. This has also included running a number of small scale, community orientated, archaeological projects across the south of England.
Sam often works across the company with the consultancy, fieldwork and post-excavation teams in Edinburgh, York and London.
