Becky has been working in archaeology since 2000, variously for Essex County Council Archaeology Unit, Pre-Construct Archaeology and AOC Archaeology Group. She began her career as a field archaeologist, working predominantly in London and the southeast. She has supervised a wide range of excavations, from the prehistoric period through to the industrial era, including deeply stratified urban sites.

She was the fieldwork and post-excavation project lead on major developments for prestigious sites that have included the Kings Cross Central redevelopment and the British Museum’s Great Court and World Conservation and Exhibition Centre. For the past decade, Becky has focused on post-excavation, and has become an expert in stratigraphic analysis, teaching courses on the subject at Oxford University’s Department of Continuing Education. She has produced numerous peer reviewed journal articles and monographs on below-ground archaeology and built heritage, several of which have been received to critical acclaim.

Becky is the winner of the Association for Industrial Archaeology’s Archaeological Report Award (2017), the London Archaeological Prize (2018) and the RCHS Archaeological Book of the Year Award (2019) and was an assistant editor for the international journal Industrial Archaeology Review.

Since joining AOC, Becky has been responsible for the production of post-excavation deliverables for flagship projects, including East-West Rail, HS2 and Lyminster bypass. She is the editor of AOC’s in-house monograph series and is the main point of contact for external journal editors at AOC Archaeology South.
