There are lots of ways to get involved in the project. We’ll be holding public lectures, hands-on artefact identification sessions and lots of on-site training in recording archaeological sites and monuments.
Surveying our Heritage
We will be out surveying archaeological sites in the Machars every month between now and March. Come along and get involved in recording our heritage and learn how to interpret archaeological sites on the ground.
We’ll be giving training sessions on how to interpret, describe and record archaeological sites- you can contribute to the study of Scotland’s archaeology!
The ‘Big Dig’
In October we’ll be digging around Whithorn! Under the supervision of the archaeological team we’re aiming to plot the evidence for historic activity around Whithorn by digging test pits and recording the presence of artefacts discovered. Our finds specialists will be on hand to identify any objects, and we’ll teach you how to record your excavations. Check here soon for more details on how to get involved.
Check out the ‘News and Events‘ page for details of forthcoming events, including lectures, workshops and training sessions.
