Granton Gasworks, Edinburgh

Prior to the re-development of Granton Gasworks, AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Lattice Properties in 2001 to carry out a programme of standing building recording, required as a condition of  planning consent.

The Gasworks at Granton created in 1899 are one of the most distinctive 20th century industrial landmarks in the Granton and Leith area of Edinburgh. AOC Archaeology carried out a survey of the upstanding buildings and compiled a detailed photographic and written record to produce a comprehensive record of these innovative and original structures.

The result of this work was published in 2006 in Industrial Archaeology Review, thus meeting the condition of planning consent.
