AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned to undertake a highly detailed buildings survey of Logie Schoolhouse near Montrose in Angus for the National Trust for Scotland as part of their Little Houses Restoration Project. The schoolhouse, a Category A Listed building, was probably built in the early to mid 19th century and is a small clay and hand-made brick built building in the village of Logie near Montrose. It was originally constructed as a school building but was latterly used as a church until it fell into disuse. It was almost probably originally thatched and is a very rare survival in Angus of a 19th century clay building, which still retains its original plan form.
AOC Archaeology Group pulled together its experienced buildings survey team and, working closely with the National Trust for Scotland, produced a detailed and highly accurate survey of the building using state of the art technology in conjunction with photo rectification to best inform the conservation process.
