Project Open Day
The Project Team will be holding an open day on Saturday 20th February,
when they will be demonstrating the techniques of archaeological field
survey and how we interpret and record archaeological sites in Assynt.
We will be recording Neolithic chambered cairns on the shore of Loch Borralan, using a range of archaeological techniques including drawing and photography as well as more advanced methods like laser scanning and GPS.
There will also be an on-site talk at the finest tomb, looking at the monument itself, and its setting among other tombs and in the Assynt landscape.
The Borralan cairns are among Assynt's most spectacular archaeological sites...Come along to get involved in recording your heritage!

Project Launch Seminar Weekend:

archaeological field survey, and introduce the techniques that will be
used over the course of the project.
